I know, I know, I'm such a slacker with the pin a day, but here's a cute mani just in time for Valentine's Day!

This adorable heart accent nail can be created with a dotting tool! If you don't have a dotting tool, use a toothpick, or the end of a bobby pin. Super easy and so cute!

L'Oreal Gold Dust Collection - Sexy In Sequins

Today I have the very first swatches of my own for my blog! Recently, L'Oreal came out with a new line of textured nail polishes, the Gold Dust Collection. I grabbed a few bottles, and first up is this purple beauty, Sexy In Sequins. It's chalked full of silver and purple hexi glitters, as well as a ton of gold micro-shimmer (hence the gold dust collection?). I even see some pink shimmer!

It's really hard to capture to full purpley goodness, but the application was lovely. It's a thicker formula, but it was totally opaque in one coat. I did add two coats, because, well, I'm OCD like that. The texture is really nice, too. It's not too chunky, like some textured polishes tend to be. I can't wait to try the other shades in this collection.

I found mine at Target for $5.99 each, but I've seen them at Rite Aid, Walgreens and CVS.

A Pin A Day...

Eeek, sorry! I missed yesterday. Better late than never, though, right?! Anyway, here's today's pin:

A simple, yet gorgeous, glitter gradient! This is really easy to achieve. Paint your nails a solid base color, then find a gorgeous, sparkling glitter that is a few shades darker than your polish. Apply a top coat to your base color, use a makeup or paint brush to tap on the glitter, concentrating a lot toward the tips, then gradually fading it down toward the base of your nail, and VOILA! You have a super beautiful glitter gradient. Top it off with a fast drying top coat and you're good to go!

As for my broken heart - my beloved 49ers fell the the wretched Seahawks yesterday. :( !! Anyway, I wanted to share a spirited 49ers mani I did a few weeks ago:

I loved these nails. I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Cherry Red and Milani Holographic in 3D, then I used some nail foils I bought at DollarNailArt.com, as well as some red studs purchased from CMnails Suppliess on Facebook. I topped that all off with the best. top. coat. EVAR., HK Girl by Glisten and Glow.

I'll be thinking of some new and fun Niner nails for next season. Until then, I'm going to go drown my football sorrows in a giant cup of Dr. Pepper!

A Pin A Day...

Tape comes in handy! Especially when you love to create awesome designs on your nails. Below is an awesome tape mani that anyone can create with just plain ole' tape and nail polish:

Here's a helpful tip: put the tape on the back of your hand before you apply it to your fully-dried nail polish. This removes some of the stickiness so that it is less likely to pull your polish up. Tape mani's are so fun!

Today's pin is this gorgeous chevron manicure:

This seriously can be done with a ton of different color combinations, but I love the pink/gray/white look with the blingy accent nail. Below are some polishes that can be used for this modern, yet very feminine look:

 Essie Power Clutch is a rich, deep gray-green, but it leans more to the gray side.

Sinful Colors Snow Me White is the perfect one-coat white!

OPI Pink Friday is a gorgeous bubblegum pink. So girly!

China Glaze Glistening Snow is a super opaque holographic silver glitter.

You can also get the perfect chevron lines by using some nail vinyls found here. I've used them before, and they seriously make a world of difference.

A Pin A Day....

I decided to start featuring a pinned picture from one of my Pinterest boards each day, since I have so, SO many. It might be a nail look or tutorial, or it might be something crafty or beauty-related. Hell, it might even be a recipe, because we all know Pinterest makes us feel like professional chefs! Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this feature.

Here is today's pin, just in time for Valentine's Day:

This is super cute, and really simple to create. I bet you have all the supplies on-hand. It would be really cute to change up the colors, too, or to add a solid sparkly silver heart to one of your nails. The possibilities are endless. One tip I have is to make sure your base color is completely dry before adding the tape. If not, the tape will pull it up and you'll have to start all over. I recommend using a fast dry top coat. My favorite one of all-time is HK Girl by Glisten & Glow. It's seriously the best top coat I have ever used. Seche Vite and Out The Door are also really nice.
